TWANGVILLE: “While singer/songwriters that look to tackle the softer sounds of rock, embrace the intimacy of folk and dance softly in the country sunshine are not exactly rare birds, it is all the more refreshing when one of those common creatures produces something that easily breaks away from their all-too crowded coffee house.”

TWANGVILLE (Mayor’s playlist July 2009): Sister Golden Hair, Scott Warren – “Yes, this is a cover of the America classic. Warren transforms the song into a somber ballad set against acoustic guitar and strings. I like it better than the original.”

BIG TAKEOVER: “Quick Fix Bandage is a warm bath of heartfelt, finely crafted folk rock. Warren’s songs are soulful, intelligent and melodic, his production and arrangement skills hit all the right notes, and he has a burnished everyman singing voice that conveys intimacy without being emo.” Full Review
GOD IS IN THE TV: “What really strikes here though is Warren’s knack for memorable hooks, even on the slower, softer tracks such as Don’t Tell Me, you still get the sense that this’ll be rattling around your head for the rest of the day.”

COVER LAY DOWN: “Gorgeously fluid, totally atmospheric cover from acoustic roots rocker Scott Warren, a founding member of indie rock-slash-power pop outfit Signal Hill Transmission with shades of Slaid Cleaves in his soft twang and solo strum. Apparently, the guy from America likes it, too. The rest of his new album Quick Fix Bandage, which dropped today, is a bit more country-roots, and worth it.”

THE ALTERNATIVE ROOT: “The album comes through in the singer/songwriter tradition with a healthy dose of country and rock influences shining up the heartfelt tales.”

CAMPUS CIRCLE: “…the more somber songs like “Don’t Tell Me” and “Sister Golden Hair” instantly captivated me. The vocal harmonies, the heartwrenching violin, the musical builds, the honest and insightful lyrics: This is what truly made the album worthwhile.”

MIDWEST RECORD: “…this isn’t a retro SoCal folk rock date but a sweet contemporary folk rocker that tips it’s cap pleasingly in the direction of post Newport Dylan but only charts it’s own course. Avoiding genre clichés, this is a date that is sure to take up permanent residence on your car’s sun visor since it’s a nice antidote to one too many mornings.”
BABYSUE: “Warren writes excellent songs…and then layers them with just the right amount of cushy arrangements and backing vocals to give them a nice full sound. The result…is an album that rings true from start to finish.”

ROCK & REPRISE: “Throw in a hook and I’m sold and Warren throws in a bunch. Every Track seems to have something to set it apart.”

POWERPOPAHOLIC: “Warren has a gentle unassuming vocal that oozes authenticity…”

THE ROCK & ROLL REPORT: “The music on ‘Quick Fix Bandage’ is true to the record’s name – perfect for healing, introspection, or meditation during the sinking of the sun.”

ABSOLUTE POWER POP: “Before You Say Goodbye”, which opens the album, is about as good as anything Warren’s written, from its easygoing melody to its light country instrumentation. “Along for the Ride” and “Same Old Scene” are spare but lovely; and the atmospheric pedal steel of “For the Ride” should make happy all of those who wonder why Jeff Tweedy doesn’t do these kinds of songs anymore.”
